jeffphillippiphoto > Our third species, a Common Garter Snake or Thamnophis sirtalis, was found by Steve, as well. If you're starting to note a theme here you are accurate. It is a theme played out in most every herping or artifact hunting trip we make. Anyway, a few feet from where we found our first Garter, I uncovered an even larger and more beautiful Garter pictured above.
jeffphillippiphoto > Sunday mornings in November are not often 65 degrees and humid. In Kansas, you learn to expect the unexpected and take advantage of whatever opportunities the weather might present. jeffphillippiphoto > Steve also finds species number two a Ringneck Snake or Diadophis punctatus. A few minutes later I found my first rock present which was another ringneck. By the end of our two hour field trip we had found three ringnecks.
